CREATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN NUTRITION AND DIETETICS
The Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, approved the establishment of the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics at its meeting on September 7, 2022. The Department was formally a unit in the Department of Family, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences in the Faculty of Agriculture. In order to conform to global best practices, the Department has to relocate to the College of Health Sciences and be domiciled in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences.
A million thanks to the former and incumbent Vice Chancellors, Professors E. O. Ogunbobede and A. S. Bamire respectively for the unflinching support and for giving the Department a good head start. Appreciation also goes to Professor Duro J. Oyedele, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture for releasing the Department and Professor Rufus A. Adedoyin, Dean of Basic Medical Sciences for accepting her.
