Professor Motunrayo Funke OLUMAKAIYE
Olumakaiye, Motunrayo Funke is a Professor in the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Nigeria. She has a Ph.D. degree in Public Health Nutrition in the year 2007 from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She also has a Post Graduate Diploma in International Food and Nutrition Security from Wageningen University and Research Center, Wageningen, the Netherlands in the year 2009. Her research focus is in the area of Public Health Nutrition with an interest in the nutrition/health of vulnerable groups (Schoolchildren, Adolescents, and Women of Reproductive Age). Attention is also given to Nutritional Assessments, Nutrient Intake, Recipe Development, Sensory Evaluation, and Randomized Control Trial studies. She has published about 40 articles in reputable Local and International Journals. One of her published articles titled Food consumption pattern of adolescents and the effect on body weight was adjudged number one in the top ten ratings among all articles published in the adolescent nutrition domain worldwide between 2013 and 2015. She is a regular speaker at both local and international conferences.
Professor Olumakaiye has won some research grants from IREX_Carnegie Corporation, Washington DC, USA; Imperial College, London (Partnership for Child Development); AUSAID, Australia; and NRF_TETFUND, Nigeria. She is a Fellow of African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (2011-2013) – a Bill and Melinda Gates sponsored award; African Nutrition Leadership Programme (2008); University Administration Support Programme-IREX (2020). She is a member of the American Society for Nutrition, Nutrition Society, UK, Nutrition Society of Nigeria among others. She is a consultant to many Organisations on nutrition matters. She is passionate about Research Integrity and Responsible Conduct of Research in the research ecosystem.
