Lecturer II

ALAGBO, Patience Kehinde obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 2011, and her Master’s degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Ibadan in 2019.  She became a Registered Dietitian in the same year.

She is currently a Lecturer II in the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, and is currently on her PhD programme. Her teaching and research interests focus on clinical nutrition, and maternal, infant, and young child nutrition.

Alagbo has extensive experience in managing diet-related conditions such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, obesity, and other non-communicable diseases, using evidence-based medical nutrition therapy in line with globally accepted guidelines. She adopts a personalized approach to nutrition care and is particularly noted for her accountability-based behavioural change strategy, which has contributed significantly to improved client outcomes. She also works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.

Her recent scholarly activities include a co-authored publication on acceptability of yellow Cass moi among women of reproductive health, dietary adequacy among sickle cell patients. She is a strong advocate for exclusive breastfeeding and lifelong nutrition education.

Patience Alagbo is a member of Institute for Dietetics Nigeria, Nutrition Society of Nigeria, American Society for Nutrition, Agriculture, Nutrition and Health Academy.
