The Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics took active roles in the 2023 Faculty Week of Basic
Medical Sciences, themed “Exercise is Medicine” which was held from Monday, 17 to Wednesday, 18 April 2023. According to the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Professor M. O. Egwu, in his opening address, recognized Food as another form of Medicine (Screenshot attached). He also warmly welcomed the Department to its first Faculty week.
The members of staff of the Department served in different capacities:
- Professor B. O. Ogunba: Co-Chairperson, LOC
- Professor M. F. Olumakaiye: Member, Scientific Committee
- Mrs. B. R. Popoola: Member, Welfare Committee
- Mr. I. O. Omikunle: Secretary, Sub-committee on Faculty Lecture and Students’ Presentation.
Professor M. F. Olumakaiye gave a brief talk on Healthy Eating for Healthy Living during the Outreach at the Central Market in OAU. Weight and Height were measured, Body Mass Index (BMI) was calculated and Nutrition Counselling was given by members of the Department.
It was a rewarding outing!
